Dog Owner, Not a Dog Person

I have owned dogs for most of the past twenty years, about as long as I have been on social media in one form or another. As a librarian, I was known to bring my dog with my wife and me when I went to library meetings. I cast myself as a dog person on social media.  I found people who loved animals followed me as well as pet food and pet products.  These all boosted my numbers, but I have to admit, I am a dog owner, not a dog person. My wife is a wonderful dog person.  She loves to rescue dogs and works with no-kill shelters.  She remembers to bring home treats, toys and likes to take them on car rides. Me, I feed them, water them and potty them.  Just the basics. My wife, bless her heart, is a dog person. Like I said earlier, I'm a dog owner, not a dog person.

Monday Morning

Monday morning October 14th I will start back to work after a six week time off for a total knee replacement.  I discovered a few things about myself in that time. I was/am burned out from nineteen years of work in the library field.  In that time I have gone through four directors soon to be five.  Much of my most recent stress is from losing a very good director. My home is not conducive to the writer's life.  Two bedrooms, too full of stuff, three dogs and two cats. I am not the writer that I think I am.  I thought I thought that I would write every day when I wasn't doing physical therapy.  All I wanted to do was sleep, do social media, and watch television. I am not ready to quit my day job. Maybe this blog will help get me back on track.

Welcome to the Next Part of mu Journey

I can't believe how many blogs I have started since, circa 2002.  But then again how many times do writers start and leave incomplete notebooks, diaries, and journals.  This time I am celebrating one-third of my life as a librarian.  This blog explores my life story, my struggles as a disabled person, my life as a Christian, as a husband, a librarian, and as a writer.  Join me on this leg of the journey.
